Storage in E-7 and E-11

What a E-7 and E-11 job usually looks like

E-11 is apartments, and apartments change everything about a collection. There's no store room, no garage and no spare bedroom to pile things into, which is exactly why people here store in the first place. E-7 sits at the other end of the same road with large houses on large plots. We work both, and the difference is measured in flights of stairs.

Most households we collect from E-7 and E-11 land on a 10 x 10, which is 100 square feet and runs PKR 20,000 to 25,000 a month. That is a guide and not a quote. What decides it is the volume you actually have, not the number of bedrooms you started with, and two houses of the same size rarely need the same unit once one of them has sold its wardrobes and the other hasn't.

The rent covers the space and the security. Collection and delivery are quoted separately, because a third-floor flat with no lift and a ground-floor house are not the same job, and pricing them the same means one of you is paying for the other.

Who calls us

Why people in E-7 and E-11 take a unit

Storage is rarely something anyone planned for. These are the three reasons we hear most often from E-7 and E-11, Islamabad specifically.

Flats with nowhere to put anything

A two bedroom apartment has no attic. Winter bedding, a second set of crockery, a cot nobody needs yet and the boxes from the last move all compete with the space you actually live in. The smallest units on the rate card exist for precisely this, and they cost less a month than most people guess.

Professionals and students leaving

A posting to another city, a course abroad, a job that starts in Dubai in five weeks. Giving up the flat and storing the contents is cheaper than paying rent on an empty apartment to keep hold of a bed and a fridge.

Landlords turning a flat around

Between tenants there's usually a set of furniture belonging to the owner, and a week of painting that shouldn't happen around it. A short booking covers the turnaround and the furniture comes back clean.

What it costs

The rate card, in full

One national rate. E-7 and E-11, Islamabad isn't priced differently to anywhere else we operate, so if somebody local is quoting you more for the same floor area, this is the number to hold them against.

Units, pay for the floor area you take

Not sure which row is you? The size calculator works it out from the furniture you actually have, or send us a list and we'll tell you.

Collection day

Lifts, and what the lift will actually take

The building's lift decides the day. A service lift that takes a fridge is a different job from a passenger lift that takes a wardrobe only on its side, and both are different again from a lift that's out. Most buildings here want the lift booked with management for a move, which is worth doing when you book rather than on the morning. Tell us the floor, whether there's a service lift and whether it can be reserved. If the honest answer is a stair carry from the fifth floor, that's fine. It just isn't the same job, and the quote should say so before you agree to it.

None of this changes your monthly rent, which is based on the floor area you take and nothing else. It changes the collection quote, and we would far rather it changed the quote than the morning.

How a collection runs

One thing we do not do: cold storage

We do not offer refrigerated or temperature-controlled storage. Our units are dry, ventilated and pest-controlled, which is right for furniture, appliances, documents and household goods, and wrong for anything that needs to be kept cold. If you need cold storage, we would rather tell you now than take a booking we cannot honour.

Questions

4 questions people in E-7 and E-11 ask

These are specific to E-7 and E-11, Islamabad. The general questions about how storage works are answered in full on the FAQ page.

What's the smallest unit you do, and is it enough for a flat?

The smallest on the rate card suits a studio or a single room, and the next size up takes a one or two bedroom flat with its furniture and appliances. Most E-11 apartments land in one of those two. If you aren't sure, the size calculator works it out from what you're actually storing rather than from the number of bedrooms.

Do I have to be there when you collect?

Someone does, to let the crew in and sign the inventory, but it doesn't have to be you. Plenty of people hand that to a relative or a building manager, particularly when the flight is before the collection date.

The lift in my building is out. Can you still do it?

Yes, and we'd much rather know now. A stair carry needs more people and more time, which changes the collection quote. It doesn't change the monthly rent, which is based on the floor area you take and nothing else.

Can I store a few boxes rather than a whole flat?

Yes. Units are rented by the square foot, so a small amount takes a small unit. If what you're storing genuinely is a handful of cartons, say so and we'll tell you the smallest thing that fits rather than selling you a room you won't fill.

Everything else, from what can't go into a unit to how billing works, is on the full FAQ.
